As with all refinishing projects, it is important that the substrate is properly prepped before the refinishing applications. All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned, including cabinet faces, drawers, and boxes to remove residue from normal kitchen uses, such as oil, grease, and fingerprints. Cabinet components are broken down, and hardware is removed so that the surfaces can be fully prepped, repaired, primed, and refinished. Removable surfaces are refinished at our shop and the permanently fixed boxes and pieces are carefully refinished on-site. It is important to use a professional system – components should sprayed with products and equipment specifically designed for cabinet refinishing.

Our first step is to remove the cabinet faces, drawers, and hardware. These will be cataloged and taken back to our shop for cleaning and refinishing. We will clean and prep the cabinet boxes in place in your kitchen. All surfaces will be cleaned with professional solvent and water-based cleaners and then sanded and scuffed to prepare the surface for a mechanical bond with the base layer materials. If minor or major surface repairs are needed, this will also be completed at this time

Our choice of primer is developed specifically for cabinet refinishing and provides a high-build, fast drying, ultra moisture resistant base surface for your cabinet topcoats. The high-build formula is engineered to cover and fill minor surface imperfections, scratches, and wood grain textures.

Cabinets are professionally sprayed with a high-quality acrylic urethane topcoat. While the trend in color choice is most typically white or off-white, customers can choose from a variety of custom colors. Topcoats contain Sterlion™ antimicrobial technology to help keep your new cabinet surfaces safe from potentially damaging bacteria, and can use a matte, eggshell, or semi-gloss finish. Once refinishing is complete, all pieces are reassembled in your home.
